Application
Keratin belongs to a group of proteins that form the natural building blocks of skin, hair, and nails. Through hydrolysis, it is obtained in a more bioavailable form. It is a clear, homogeneous, amber-colored liquid with a characteristic odor.
Examples of use:
• as an additive in hair conditioners and shampoos (recommended concentration: 5–50%, in finished cosmetics: 6–10%)
• as an active ingredient in hand and nail creams
Benefits
Hydrolyzed keratin has a high affinity for damaged hair – it penetrates deeply, fills structural gaps, and forms a protective film. It also provides intensive hydration.
Effects on hair:
• strengthens hair and improves elasticity and resilience
• adds shine, smoothness, and visible volume
• increases mechanical strength – reduces hair breakage during combing
• reduces tendency for split ends
• protects against damage from dyes, perms, and UV radiation
• enhances natural curl pattern and facilitates styling
• extends the longevity of perms
• protects against drying caused by harsh surfactants in shampoos
• due to sulfur content: helps with dandruff and soothes the scalp
Effects on nails:
• regenerates damaged nail plates
• strengthens and densifies nails
• prevents brittleness and splitting
• provides moisture and improves cuticle condition
• brightens yellowed or discolored nails
