Description
INCI: Glycerin & Glycosphingolipids & Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate
Application
Ceramides are found in the epidermis and are responsible for its protective properties; in simple terms, they protect the skin and hair from adverse environmental effects. They help maintain proper skin hydration, increase its firmness, and also boost collagen synthesis.
They are key to maintaining moisture and the protective barrier of the skin surface to keep it in the best possible condition.
Ceramides are used for both skin and hair care.
The recommended concentration in products is from 1% to 10%. Lower concentrations are used in hair products (conditioners, shampoos, scalp treatments), while higher concentrations are used in skin products like creams or lotions.
The product dissolves very well in water.
Ceramides can be added to a daily cosmetic product or used in DIY cosmetic production. They are added during the water phase (after oils).
For cosmetics prepared using heat—such as soaps—they are added after cooling (at a temperature below 40-45°C).
Description of effects
By supplying the skin with ready-made ceramides, we effectively strengthen its structure—building a protective barrier, preventing dehydration, enhancing firmness and density, and stimulating collagen production. The key benefits of incorporating ceramides into daily care include:
- Hydrating dry skin and preventing water loss
- Renewing, repairing, and firming aging skin
- Smoothing fine lines and wrinkles
- Improving epidermal integrity—protecting against photodamage, surfactants, stress, and low humidity
In hair care, ceramides protect the hair fiber while enhancing shine and improving mechanical properties such as texture and combability.
