Application

Matsutake mushroom extract is a high-quality cosmetic raw material intended for the production of DIY cosmetics as well as professional skincare formulations. It contains a natural mixture of bioactive compounds found in the fruiting bodies of the mushroom.
The extract is obtained from the fruiting bodies of Tricholoma matsutake – one of the most valuable mushrooms of East Asia, known in Japan as Matsutake and in Korea as Songyi. This mushroom grows exclusively in natural environments (industrial cultivation is not possible) and is therefore considered a particularly valuable cosmetic raw material.
Thanks to its water-glycol base, the extract can be easily incorporated into the water phase of cosmetic formulations and does not require prior dissolution.

Our product should not be confused with extracts of other mushrooms used in cosmetics, such as Reishi, Shiitake or Tremella. It is also not a mushroom beta-glucan ingredient, which is a separate raw material with a different form and composition.

Benefits

Extract from Tricholoma matsutake acts in cosmetics primarily as a strong brightening and Anti-Aging ingredient. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase (responsible for melanin production), thereby reducing pigmentation spots, evening out the skin tone and preventing hair greying.
Studies show that the extracts also exhibit antioxidant properties and may help limit the effects of free radicals responsible for accelerated skin ageing. As a result, they support the protection of skin cells against oxidative stress caused, among others, by UV radiation and environmental pollution.
The raw material supports the care of mature skin and skin exposed to external factors.
The Butylene Glycol contained in the raw material also acts as a humectant. It helps bind water in the stratum corneum, improves skin hydration and leaves the skin softer and smoother.

The extract is an excellent ingredient in cosmetic products designed for the care of:
• dry and dehydrated skin,
• mature skin,
• tired and dull skin,
• skin exposed to oxidative stress.

Due to its water-based form, the raw material is very easy to incorporate into formulations and combines well with most water-phase ingredients. Regular use supports a fresher, more radiant complexion and improves skin comfort.

Formulation guidelines

• incorporate into the water phase or add cold after the emulsion has cooled down,
• the manufacturer does not specify a recommended usage concentration – for initial formulations, it is advisable to start with a low dosage and evaluate the stability and behaviour of the formulation,
• the included Radish Ferment Filtrate serves only to stabilise the raw material in the packaging and does not replace preservation of the finished cosmetic product – for this purpose, we recommend the Eco preservatives available on our website,
• shake before use; possible sediment formation is a natural phenomenon,
• after exposure to low temperatures, it is recommended to warm the raw material to approx. 45–50°C and mix until the original homogeneous consistency is restored.

Storage

Store in a tightly closed container at 16–32°C (optimal 23–25°C). Protect from direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
